The Egyptian Embassy applied the concept of "Floating" and Egypt's "Rosetta Stone" to the construction. The government wanted to interpret the forgotten ancient Egyptian civilization in a modern way by setting the Rosetta Stone as a "Floating Stone" Floating has the dictionary meaning of "Roaming, Drifting," and Jang Yoon Gyoo's "Floating" means an attitude to try new architecture "to find invisible social relationships that float only after being free from the physical entity that restrains the earth." The "Rosetta Stone" is an ancient Egyptian stone sculpture carved with languages from various countries and was accidentally discovered in the village of Rosetta by Napoleon, who went on an expedition to Egypt. It is a symbolic stone that sheds light on Egyptian civilization again.
이집트대사관은 ‘플로팅(Floating)’ 개념과 이집트의 ‘로제타 스톤(Rosetta Stone)’ 개념을 건축에 적용했다. 잊혀진 고대 이집트 문명을 다시 찾게 한 로제타 스톤을 ‘떠오른 돌(Floating Stone)’로 설정하면서 현대적으로 해석하고자 했다. ‘플로팅’은 ‘떠도는, 부유하는’이라는 사전적 의미가 있는데 장윤규의 ‘플로팅’은 “대지를 구속하는 물리적 실체로부터 자유롭고 그제야 비로소 대지를 둘러싼 공간 안에서 떠도는, 눈에 보이지 않는 사회적 관계들을 찾아 나서는” 새로운 건축을 시도하려는 태도를 의미한다. ‘로제타스톤’은 여러 나라의 언어가 조각된 고대 이집트의 돌조각으로 이집트 원정에 나선 나폴레옹이 로제타 마을에서 우연히 발견했다. 이집트 문명을 다시 조명하게 된 계기를 만든 상징적인 돌이다. -OHS
